Christmas Shoebox Appeal a huge success! 🎄🎁

Today the Green Schools’ Committee we finished all the boxes for the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Our initial goal was to send 18 boxes: one for every class in the school. By the end of school today we had 82 boxes for boys and girls covering the age range 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14 years and collected €328, which was just enough to cover the cost per box for sending them abroad to children in need.

We were overwhelmed by the generosity of pupils, parents and staff both in donating items for the boxes, which we know are costly, and money donated and backed up by the school to send the items.

A phenomenal amount of work was put in by the pupils; making posters, wrapping boxes, speaking to classes, collecting and sorting donations, calculating number of boxes and cost per box and preparing the boxes for collection.

This was supported and facilated behind the scenes by several members of staff, who went above and beyond to ensure this all came together in a short period of time.

On Monday, the Green Schools Committee will visit classrooms with some completed boxes so they can see how their contributions came together and to take a picture of the class to place in the shoebox.

Many thanks again to all involved and all those who contributed, we are so fortunate to have such a supportive and considerate school community.
