Boys Football: Dominic’s Unlucky to Lose

Well done to our boys footballers (with one girl included) who played out a thrilling end-to-end game in Bancroft Park today against Dominican PS, Dún Laoghaire. Our team were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline at the end but competed valiantly throughout and were desperately unlucky not to secure at least a draw.

Dylan O (4th Ms Farrelly) was man of the match with an astonishing goal mid-way through the second half. Winning the ball in midfield, he danced around five Dún Laoghaire players before crashing the ball home from 20 yards into the top corner. Mr Looney, who has been coaching teams here for eight years, said it was the best goal he has ever seen from a Dominic’s player.

Unfortunately, despite great forward play from the likes of Ella (6th Mr Fagan), Daniel and Josh (5th Mr Donnellan), we were unable to get another past the great Dún Laoghaire keeper.

Well done to Shane and Fíonn (6th Mr Looney), Ryan (5th Mr Donnellan) and Thomas (4th Ms Farrelly) who were resolute in defence ahead of our own brilliant custodian, Dylan B (5th Ms Tighe). Midfielder Cameron (5th Ms Tighe) showed a great level of fitness and never stopped running throughout, while Evan (6th Mr Looney) and Kaylum (5th Ms Tighe) showed great skills on the ball down the flanks.

Hard luck to our boys, who will play their second League game next week away in Crumlin.
