St Dominic’s NS Camogie Team Play Outstanding
It was a scorching hot afternoon in Lucan Sarsfields GAA club where the St Dominic’s NS camogie team came to within a point of reaching the final in Croke Park.
This was part two of a saga which started in the St Dominic’s home pitch last week in what was one of the most memorable matches ever to be played at the venue. After being 4 goals down at half time, they used their grit and determination to equalise in the last seconds of the match.
After not one, not two but three periods of extra-time, the teams still couldn’t be separated.
This brought us to today, where the girls showed the same work rate as last week to push the match right to the wire.
Aisling (c) playing in her last match for the school was player-of-the-match in what was undoubtedly her finest performance in a Dominic’s jersey.
Maryam made some great saves, while terrific defending from Alicia, Andrea and Rebecca (6th) ensured that it was only a two score game at the break.
Ella and Esther were the engine of the team in midfield, producing some lovely assists for the forwards – Gloria, Emma, Robyn, Jessica, Sarah and Rebecca (4th).
Sadly, it was not our day. But Mr Fagan and Ms Hogan our extremely proud of how far these girls have developed in camogie over the past 3 years.
Team: Maryam, Aisling (c), Alicia, Rebecca (6th), Andrea, Emma, Esther, Ella, Sarah, Jessica, Robyn & Rebecca (4th).
Well done to Lucan ET school for a fantastic match. Thank you to all of our supporters too.
