6th Green Flag News

We have received fantastic news from An Taisve that all our hard work on our 6th Green Flag has paid off and we have been successful in our application for the International Green Flag Award.

Many thanks to all staff and pupils for all the hard work. This is a wonderful achievement and we are very proud of obtaining our 6th Flag for Global Citizenship (Litter & Waste).

The Green Flag will be presented to our school at an awards ceremony in The Helix, DCU on 24th May. We will hold a flag raising ceremony to celebrate with the whole school following on from this.

Boys’ Cup Run Comes to an End

Our boys footballers’ long Pegasus Cup run came to a halt today with a 3-1 defeat away to Our Lady Immaculate, Darndale. Nevertheless, our players can hold their heads up high after competing so well in a tight, intense match which was a step up in standard for our team.

Goalkeeper Cain won the man-of-the-match award having kept Dominic’s in the game with a string of fine saves. Playing against a strong breeze, our boys went in 1-0 down at the break but were to concede again a few minutes into the second half.

Heads didn’t drop, however, and a great individual goal from Jamie – his ninth of the season – made it 2-1. His team mates pushed on in search of the equaliser but were scuppered by a Darndale free kick which sneaked in to the bottom corner.

3-1 was the final score, perhaps a little harsh on a Dominic’s team who fought bravely in a physical contest. Our players showed skill and tenacity and are learning to encourage each other and “play more as a team” as the season progresses.

Thus ends a Cup run which included a penalty shoot out win against the Cup holders and an extra time goal-fest in Mulhuddart. Our boys now turn their attention to their final League group game in a fortnight’s time, from which they will hope to progress to the knockout stages.

Well done to all the children who received their good behaviour stickers before Easter, keep up the good work!

Well done to our students of the month who received a badge for outstanding good manners and kindness.

We also had Easter eggs for the children with the best attendance. We are delighted to see so many of you up there!
