Future Dub Stars Tour Croke Park
73 children from 3rd class to 6th class, including our new classmates from Scoil Cholmcille, enjoyed a wonderful tour of Croke Park today. Children were chosen for the trip for their efforts in our school sports teams this year – Gaelic football, camogie, hurling, soccer, basketball and chess.
The tour included a visit to the dressing rooms, a run down the famous Croke Park tunnel onto the pitch, and a chance to speak from the platform where the captains receive the Liam McCarthy Cup and the Sam Maguire. We also got to sit in the VIP Ard Comhairle area, to travel to the highest seats in the stadium and to play lots of fun, interactive games in the GAA Museum.
Our tour guides, Cian and Stephen, told us all about the history of Ireland’s biggest and best stadium, including the story of each of the stands and Hill 16, and the terrible history of Bloody Sunday 1920.
Thanks to Mr Vaughan for organising, to Ms Hickey, Ms Shanahan, Ms Hogan, Mr Looney, Ms Brady and Ms Hoey for bringing us, and to all of our boys and girls who behaved themselves so well and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We can’t wait to go back some day in the future to play for the Dubs!
