The final lunch tray

IMG_5298Today our caretaker, Eddie Nolan retires after 28 years in St. Dominic’s School. Eddie has delivered over 200,000 lunches to the classrooms on over 19,000 trays to make sure every child getst a lunch each day. We wish Eddie and his wife, Mary the very best in the years to come.

Boys Footballers’ Opening Game

Our boys soccer team had their first competitive match of the season in Irishtown today. They took on St Patrick’s BNS Ringsend in a Pegasus Cup match and were unlucky to suffer a 6-3 defeat. The scoreline doesn’t show the wonderful second half performance of the Dominic’s boys. 3-0 down at half time, and playing into a strong wind in the second half, Dominic’s scored three goals and finished the stronger team.

A determined and tenacious attitude was on show from our lads throughout the game, despite being five goals behind at one stage. The match was played in a fair and competitive spirit with great skill on show from our mainly-fifth class team.

Our captain Cian scored a long-range free as well as finishing off a fantastic team goal, after being set up by David and Aaron K-R. Aaron himself scored our third after a long run and powerful finish. The referee noted the performance of Muhsin as particularly strong, while Stuart, Adam, Aaron C and Ciarán impressed in a positive second half display.

Our league campaign will begin in the next few days.
